WHPC Breakfast at CIUK 2025

We are delighted to be organising the 4th annual WHPC breakfast at CIUK 2025! This year, the popular event will be taking place on the 5th of December between 8:30 and 10:30. We are bringing the HPC community together for:

  • Inspiring early-career tech talks
  • Introductions to the UK’s WHPC Chapter & Affiliate community
  • Networking with peers and colleagues
  • A relaxed start to the day with breakfast provided

Please be aware that you will need a conference badge to attend, so make sure to register for CIUK.

About CIUK 2025

CIUK 2025 will be held at the Manchester Central Convention Complex on the 4th and 5th of December 2025, celebrating the theme: “Computing Unites”.

CIUK 2025 will include an exhibition of the latest hardware and software releases plus two day programme of presentations and a series of parallel breakout sessions, including our annual Women in HPC breakfast! There will be a student poster competition plus the fourth instalment of the Student Cluster Challenge. Find out more at: www.ukri.org/CIUK.

Call for Lightning Talks: DEADLINE EXTENDED!

We are inviting applications to present at the 4th Annual Women in HPC (WHPC) Breakfast. This is a unique opportunity for students and early-career professionals to showcase their work through short, 5-minute lightning talks.

What are we looking for? 

We are looking for talks that:

  • Showcase novel approaches to supercomputing.
  • Introduce new and emerging technologies. (AI, ML, Quantum, etc.)
  • Explore interdisciplinary applications (e.g. healthcare, economics)
  • Address sustainability, ethics, or social impact in HPC/AI

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from students currently enrolled in undergraduate to PhD programs at UK or EU institutions as well as those in the first 5 years of their career. (Please note, we welcome those who have transitioned into our field or have returned after a career break as part of this submission.) If you are passionate about supercomputing and eager to share your research or ideas, this is your chance to gain recognition and expand your professional network.
