WHAT WE OFFER
The Digital R&D (DRD) team is responsible for innovative computational solutions for chemical product and application development at Covestro. DRD integrates expertise in material simulation and computational chemistry as well as competencies in laboratory automation, R&D Data Science and High Performance Computing (HPC). In your new role you will take care of the following tasks:
- You will assist in managing Linux-based HPC clusters with thousands of CPU cores and extensive GPU resources such as NVIDIA DGX nodes
- Your responsibilities will include implementing security patches and updates with minimal downtime, as well as providing support in managing software licenses used by the R&D team
- You will also contribute to the improvement and creation of wiki-style technical documentation in the form of user manuals and guides for managing the HPC infrastructure in Confluence
- You will be the first point of contact for technical advice to experienced HPC users and troubleshooting issues in an R&D environment using agile principles with Jira
- You will attend HPC conferences and events to meet with vendors and learn about the latest HPC technologies, e.g., Arm processors such as NVIDIA Grace, FPGAs for HPC, SoCs such as NVIDIA BlueField
WHAT YOU OFFER
- You have professional training as an IT specialist for system administration or comparable training
- You have knowledge and initial experience in the administration of RHEL servers or related Linux distributions
- In addition, you have good knowledge of Bash scripting, basic knowledge of Python programming and working with the version management system Git
- You are familiar with HPC software such as Slurm, OpenHPC, OpenMPI or NVIDIA toolchain
- Good English language skills and effective communication skills in oral and written form complete your profile
