Women in HPC at SC24: Diversity and Inclusion in Action
2024 has been a groundbreaking year for Women in High-Performance Computing (WHPC)! At this year’s SC24 conference in Atlanta, Georgia, the energy was palpable as over 18,000 attendees came together to celebrate advancements in supercomputing.
Building on the momentum from SC23, this year’s WHPC activities saw incredible growth. Our larger workshop space was packed, our Diversity Day events drew widespread engagement, and the networking reception was a sold-out success. None of this could have been possible without the unwavering support of our WHPC SC24 sponsors and the tireless dedication of our volunteers.
One of the most talked-about highlights was a new addition to the WHPC workshop: “Troika Consulting,” hosted by WHPC co-chair Jessica Imlau Dagostini. This innovative session invited participants to:
– Clearly define problems and challenges.
– Refine listening and consulting skills.
– Collaborate to solve real-world issues within their institutions.
Jessica shared her thoughts on the success of the activity:
“It was incredible to see how Troika Consulting sparked meaningful conversations and practical solutions for challenges across institutions”.
The interactive format fostered collaboration, making it a standout moment for many participants.
WHPC by the Numbers
