HPC Application Analyst

This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early career individual looking to further their skills in High Performance Computing.  The post has an emphasis on application performance analysis, and code optimization.  You’ll initially work as part of a small supportive team contributing to the EU Centre of Excellence POP (www.pop-coe.eu) but will also have the opportunity to work on a range of commercial and software development projects in our Manchester office.  The team will be around you to bounce ideas off, but you’ll also be allowed autonomy to apply your growing expertise.  The project has many different technical components and we’ll give you the freedom to find your niche.

Why NAG?  We have had a presence in the scientific software industry for 50 years, but this doesn’t mean we are resting on our laurels!  We also partner and/or provide consulting and services to some of the biggest names in the game, including AMD, ARM, Google, Intel and Microsoft to name but a few and have some very exciting work starting in the near future.  We are expanding the team as existing members are applying their recently developed skills to these high-profile projects and this is where you come in!

Increasing your knowledge will be part of your make up, you’ll be passionate about developing your HPC skills and will be a valuable part of our technical knowledge base.  We understand that developing your skills is not just about learning as part of your day to day work and we provide regular knowledge sharing events as well as training when required.  You’ll find relevant conferences to attend to allow you to get to know your industry peers.

The ideal candidate would have:

·       A BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in an applied science;

·       Experience programming with at least one of Fortran, C, C++ or Python;

·       Some experience with one of MPI, OpenMP, CUDA or another parallel programming language.

Key Responsibilities

·       Working directly with users of the POP service to help them understand how well their software performs;

·       Making improvements to user’s code;

·       Contributing to business development in POP including finding new user and promoting the project through blog posts and webinars;

·       Travel within Europe to collaborate with users and POP colleagues outside of NAG.
