Context And Mission
We are looking for data managers, data stewards, or equivalent professional figures, with experience in data management (either policy-oriented, research-oriented or infrastructure-oriented), for giving support to BSC multidisciplinary researchers and be part of the data management team of the BSC.
The funding for these actions/fellowships and contracts comes from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility – Next Generation, within the framework of the General Invitation by the public business entity Red.es to participate in the talent attraction and retention programs within Investment 4 of Component 19 of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

Key Duties
Support and advice about the management and usability of scientific data and metadata. This involves interactions with local, national and international initiatives and stakeholders.
Design and enforce procedures for adequate data validity, protection and security. Ensure data transferred from and to the BSC meets standards with respect to formats, security and validity of processing and data protection.
Training BSC personnel and users on Data Management topics
Contribute to adopt FAIR Data principles across existing and future research projects.
Contribute to build up and maintain the BSC scientific data catalogues.
Work together with BSC researchers to ensure the appropriate implementation of standards and DM methodologies.
Provide consultancy to scientists on the redaction of data management plans and on data management solutions affecting any part of the data lifecycle.
Collaborate with other DM groups at European and International level on practical matters related to research data management.
Requirements
Education
Degree/Master’s degree in any data related scientific/humanistic discipline will be considered.
Specialization, or participation to courses and workshops on data management related topics will be positively considered.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
A thorough understanding of managing data and on Open Science principles.
A thorough knowledge of the FAIR data principles and their practical application.
Experience on writing, or supporting others to write, DMPs.
Experience with tools for data management, especially for data management planning and data publication.
Knowledge and basic experience using databases.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience working in a scientific research environment.
Experience on giving training on data management topics.
Good understanding of Linux environment and Shell scripting.
Fluency in English.
Good written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.
Competences
Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines.
Ability to work independently and in a team to complete tasks on schedule.
Analytical problem-solving ability.
Conditions
The position will be located at BSC within the Operations Department
We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance
Duration: 4 years
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
Salary: 50.000,00 €
Additional Expenses Grant: Each fellowship will be associated with a grant for additional expenses, such as IT equipment, travel, training, stays, etc.
Starting date: asap – the incorporation for this vacancy must be before the 16th of December 2024
