The Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science of the University
of Geneva has an opening for a position for an
Assistant or Associate Professor position in the field of Scientific Computing
The Department of Computer Science is a very dynamic entity of the Faculty of
Sciences. It is involved in numerous research projects funded by the SNSF, the
EU, industry and other foundations. The Department of Computer Science offers
complete bachelor, master and doctoral courses, focusing on the basic
theoretical concepts of computer science, the mastery and development of
advanced tools, and their multidisciplinary application in fields as varied as
theoretical computer science, formal methods, information theory, High
Performance computations, numerical modeling and simulation, bioinformatics,
etc.
The Department of Informatics is recognized worldwide for the quality of its
research in several of these areas.
We are looking for a candidate with a comprehensive understanding of
computational methods, their theoretical foundations, and their applications to
real-world problems, possibly combined with artificial intelligence and/or
optimization techniques. Applicants working on Innovative computing models are
welcome to apply.
This position involves research and teaching duties, the direction of a research
group, research-fund raising, and participation in the management of the
Computer Science Department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The candidate must have a PhD title in Computer Science or equivalent.
Teaching at the bachelor and master levels is required, and the candidate should
be able to teach basic courses in computational science, such as for instance,
algorithms, HPC, modeling, and simulation. Non-French speaking candidates are
welcome to apply and should be willing to learn French.
