Women in HPC – UK Chapters – Set to host social sustainability session at the UK KTN Green Computing Workshop

Following on from the ARCHER2 Celebration of Science on March 8th members of the south east chapters and affiliates of WHPC UK will he hosting a session on social sustainability at the UK KTN Green Computing Workshop.  Held on March 26, 2024 at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry + online, this all-day event promises to bring members in industry, academia, and cutting edge research together to explore what “green computing” means for our community.

Defining Green Computing

This event will be focused on pulling together what sustainability means for the UK community in terms of compute, storage, and staffing resources.  From the economics to the environmental impact, attendees will be invited to explore the potential of green computing, as well as openly address concerns in a safe and welcoming environment.

Moving the Needle – Social Sustainability

Alongside of these robust discussions the team behind our Move the Needle project will present an interactive session on social sustainability.  Through an open forum and attendee polling we will explore the many facets of building up and supporting the people behind the technology.  Results from this session will be fed into our overall report on how our community is actively working to progress diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in HPC and beyond.

Registration is now open!

You can sign up to join the event in-person and/or online for free.  If you are interested in participating directly with our session and would like to get in touch with us please direct your request or questions to info@womeninhpc.org.
