WHPC UK Chapters Continue Series of Events at Durham HPC Days

Building upon the success of the ARCHER2 Celebration of Science and the UK Green Computing Workshop, this event will further the projects and ideals of the UK Chapters and Affiliates Program, fostering Conversation, Education, and Networking Opportunities.

The WHPC N8 Chapter, in collaboration with our UK Chapter and Affiliate Partnerships, is delighted to announce our participation at the 2024 Durham HPC Days! We extend a warm invitation to all members, friends, and allies to join our session titled “Community Building and Fostering Diversity” on Thursday, May 9th, from 13:00 to 15:00. Topics for discussion will include:

  • Lessons learned when building your own community.
  • How improving diversity has enhanced workplaces.
  • Tips for fostering inclusivity.
  • The value of mentoring.
  • Effective onboarding strategies for new staff members.
  • Being the change you wish to see.

The session will feature talks followed by a Lyceum panel, inviting the audience to participate in an interactive discussion. What is a Lyceum, you ask? Launched at ISC23 by Addison Snell under the name “The Fishbowl,” this session transforms the traditional panel by incorporating diverse voices from the audience. This approach ensures that the discussion remains focused on the needs of session attendees. WHPC further refined Addison’s concept in late 2023, renaming it a Lyceum, which roughly translates to “Forum for All People.”

Registration is NOW OPEN for Durham HPC Days. Tickets are free but in high demand. Be sure to register early to secure your spot.
