Greetings WHPC Champions and Supporters!
In an effort to ensure the greater HPC sector is inclusive and welcoming to all communities, Women in HPC is launching an online campaign this SC17. We need your help to illustrate the many faces of HPC and raise awareness of the essential role of diversity and inclusion in our sector.
Both our academic and industry communities are struggling with major talent shortages yet engaging new communities and diversifying remain a serious challenge for the HPC. Research indicates diverse teams produce better results and impacts and many studies indicate people need to see someone in their own image to feel included.
Let’s work together to show how exciting and diverse our sector is by flooding social media with the many faces of HPC and our supportive allies.
The campaign is called #WeAreHPC. We are asking for your support specifically to help launch the campaign.
We are asking you to take a “selfie” portrait holding a print of the attached sign (check out @women_in_HPC for examples). You can either post this on your Twitter account and tag @women_in_hpc (it doesn’t work unless you tag us!) or send the photo to us so we can post on your behalf. Please Include the #WeAreHPC in your Twitter post and if you are comfortable tag your company, institution or someone in your network. We are inviting all our colleagues, male and female to participate. In sharing the #WeAreHPC you are communicating your support for diversity in our sector.
Women in HPC will retweet each of your posts and share a link to key facts on the website.
The campaign is based on the following key messages:
· Diversity creates stronger organizations and a stronger HPC community. Our goal is to support the HPC community to engage a broader community of HPC users
· To continue to attract and retain the talent to support our research and industry growth and we must focus our energies on diversity and inclusion initiatives
· The power of supercomputing must be accessible to everyone in order to truly benefit from its promise
Thanks for your support,
Kelly Nolan
